From Baird Maritime:

Produced jointly by the International Chamber of Shipping and the World Shipping Council, this simple but practical guide was apparently produced in response to the 'MSC Napoli' mess and the 'Annabella' container stack collapse of 2007.

They were high profile incidents which were really only symptomatic highlights of a considerably more widespread problem.

Container ships are rather like tankers. At least 99.99 percent of their voyages are carried out safely and without problem. Unfortunately, because of their size and prominence, when a problem occurs it tends to have a disproportionate impact in the media and, often, on the environment.

This book is a very useful, clear and simple guide for containership personnel that is aimed at preventing as many problems as possible.

It is hoped that it is widely distributed in the container sector and, more importantly widely read.
