Ukraine seaports traffic volumes grew 5.6 percent in 2011

The combined cargo throughput of Ukraine's eighteen seaports increased in 2011 by 5.6 percent year-on-year to 113.7 million tonnes, according to the country's Ministry of Infrastructure.

Trans-shipment of transit cargoes rose by 20.4 percent to 39.9 million, versus 33.1 million tonnes in 2010. Imports handling also grew by 4.7 percent year-on-year to 11 million tonnes. The leading port of Yalta handled 61.3 million tons, a 63-percent gain from a year before.
