Tradepoint Atlantic to invest in new bulk storage facility in Maryland

Published on:

Tradepoint Terminals, a multi-commodity terminal and subsidiary of Tradepoint Atlantic, will invest US$35 million in a bulk cargo conveyance system, indoor and outdoor bulk storage expansion, supporting infrastructure and rail connectivity as part of a broader plan to modernise its bulk logistics and port operations on the US East Coast.

The bulk storage expansion project will be located on and immediately adjacent to an existing 1,100-foot (340-metre) pier in Sparrows Point in Maryland's Baltimore County.

Tradepoint said the project will introduce a multi-commodity solution with both offloading and storage capabilities, thus increasing output and flexibility for a broad range of bulk products.

The facility will incorporate high-capacity conveyors and hoppers, equipped with variable speed control and washdown functionality, for the handling of a range of bulk materials including cement, salt, and fertiliser.

The infrastructure will also utilise the existing 50 acres ( hectares) of adjacent paved storage to maximise flexibility for customers.

Tradepoint said the facility will be engineered to minimise the time it takes to discharge Panamax vessels.
