Norwegian Coastal Administration awards grant funding to Port of Oslo
The Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverket) has awarded NOK12 million (US$1.2 million) in grant funding to the Port of Oslo.
Port officials said the support will be used for investments in physical facilities and digital solutions that would help make operations at the port more efficient.
The port will receive NOK8 million (US$800,000) for upgrade works on the tanker jetty in the cargo port in Sydhavna while NOK4.1 million (US$410,000) will be allocated for seabed mapping in a number of ports.
Yilport Oslo, the operator of the container terminal in Oslo, will receive almost NOK10 million (US$1 million) to upgrade its terminal gate facilities.
"The support is important for upgrading critical infrastructure and increasing the efficiency of maritime transport," said Ingvar M. Mathisen, Director of the Port of Oslo.
The Port of Oslo is one of nine Norwegian ports that have been selected to receive funding from Kystverket totalling NOK155 million (US$15.4 million) with the aim of enhancing the contributions of maritime transport to Norway's national transport system.
