Peruvian Government officials have selected APM Terminals to run Terminal Muelle Norte in the port of Callao, supporting the Peruvian Government's initiative to continue to modernise its port infrastructure to meet the country's growing trade needs.
APM Terminals Callao will invest US$749 million to modernise and transform Terminal Muelle Norte into a multipurpose terminal for containers, general cargo, Ro-Ro cargo, break bulk and cruise ships. At full capacity, the terminal will be able to handle 2.9 million TEU and 9.9 million tonnes of non‐containerised cargo.
According to APM Terminals, the concession contract will be signed within the next 30 days and it will take over the operations of Muelle Norte 60 days thereafter.
