The Antwerp Port Authority will embark on a investment program over the next 15 years, representing an amount of EUR1.6 billion (US$2.23 billion).
Works include the development of the Verrebroek dock and the Saeftinghe Development Area, modifications to its canal dock and the Waasland canal, maintenance of roads and bridges, and the construction of a new port house and renovation of administrative buildings.
"It is these financial results, without trying to maximise profits, that even after a period of crisis give us a sufficient financial basis to implement this investment programme that is so important to our customers, and to go ahead with the priority activities and investments," said Antwerp Port Authority CEO Eddy Bruyninckx.
