Mitsui OSK Lines yesterday announced the launch of a six-week safety campaign.

The company's president Koichi Muto, executives and other personnel will visit MOL-operated vessels to exchange opinions with onboard employees. Proposals and ideas gained through discussions with seafarers will be shared throughout MOL and with other MOL-operated vessels, with the aim of enhancing safe operations.

The campaign is intended to achieve the goal of "Four Zeroes" set out in MOL's mid-term management plan. The "Four Zeroes" campaign entails never allowing four things: serious marine accidents, oil pollution, fatal accidents, or serious cargo damage.

Issues discussed with MOL seafarers will include: measures to prevent illness and incidents causing injury or damage; measures to prevent incidents during mooring operations; and measures to prevent troubles due to poor maintenance.
