Tokyo Gas has completed construction and begun operations at the Hitachi LNG Terminal in the Hitachi Port area, north east of Tokyo, Japan.

The Hitachi LNG Terminal is the first LNG terminal owned by Tokyo Gas to be located outside of Tokyo Bay.  The terminal is capable of storing 100,000 tonnes of LNG.

Construction began in 2012 to meet a growth of gas demand in Japan.

Tokyo Gas aims to complete a second LNG storage tank at the site by 2020.
