Hidden Harbours of Southwest Britain

From Baird Maritime:

Dag Pike is best known for his "how to" books on fast boat driving and similar rather hectic activities.

This coffee table style picture book is in sharp contrast to his previous output. Perhaps the old fellow is finally slowing down.

Certainly here he has "stopped to smell the roses", so to speak. This is all about small, calm, sheltered and mostly shallow harbours dotted around the English counties of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

Some excellent photographs are accompanied by usefully brief and necessarily formulaic descriptions. It is a good recipe that enticingly describes a very historic and attractive part of the planet.

A pleasant change.
