Universal Shipbuilding subsidiary expects high pre-tax profits

Japan: Universal Shipbuilding Corporation's subsidiary, JFE Holdings, is expecting to post a pretax profit figure for the year ending March 2010 of US$106.5 million after its US$158 million loss last year.

The company attributes the great difference as the result of the reductions in fixed costs and expenses for procuring steel.

Furthermore, JFE expects that its engineering operations will bring in US$106 million in pretax profits, which is about the same as its 2008 figure.
