Tallink sells cargo vessel to Turkish buyer
Estonian ferry operator Tallink has sold the cargo vessel Regal Star to the Turkish company Ams Line Shipping. The vessel was officially handed over to its new owner on August 6.
The sale is part of a series of fleet adjustments and route optimisations undertaken by the company this year. Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp, stated that the sale supports efforts to align the size of the operational fleet with current market conditions and enhances operational efficiency. The company noted that the decision to sell will not significantly impact its financial results for 2025.
The Regal Star previously served on the Paldiski–Kapellskär route, mainly as a cargo vessel. Other fleet changes in 2025 include the sale of the passenger vessel Star I in April. Following that sale, the Paldiski–Kapellskär route began operating with the Superfast IX, which returned from a long-term charter in Canada.
The company also noted that its cruise ship Romantika began a new charter service in Algeria in May, while the passenger vessels Silja Europa and Galaxy I remain away from Estonia under long-term charter agreements.
