Stena RoRo, on behalf of sister company Stena Line, has entered into a conversion agreement with China Merchants Jinling (Weihai) Shipyard for the installation of an additional cargo deck, increased thruster capacity, and preparations for shore power on board each of the Ro-Ro vessels Stena Foreteller and Stena Forerunner.

Following conversion, the vessels' cargo capacity will increase by 30 per cent. Stena Line said the vessels themselves will also be ready to meet future efficiency requirements.

The conversion for both vessels will be finalised during 2025.

Stena Foreteller and Stena Forerunner had already undergone upgrades in 2023 as part of Stena Line's decarbonisation efforts. Works included the changing of propellers, the application of silicone paint, and the incorporation of interceptors.

Stena Line said the additional cargo deck on each of the two vessels will further decrease the carbon intensity index factor and further reduce CO2 emissions per cargo unit.
