Ferry operator Fred Olsen Express announced on July 19 that it will launch a new logistics route specializing in freight transport, connecting the island of La Palma with Tenerife three times a week.

The six-hour voyage between Santa Cruz de La Palma and Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be operated by the company's three Ro-Ro ships: Bahía Cargo, Bentayga Cargo, and the upcoming addition, Breñas Cargo. The service will also facilitate connections with Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and the Spanish mainland, the company said.

The Bahía Cargo and Bentayga Cargo are 162-metre long Ro-Ro vessels with a cargo capacity of 1,800 linear metres. The 138.5-metre long Breñas Cargo, on the other hand, has a capacity of 1,500 linear metres.

According to Fred Olsen, the logistics route to La Palma will begin operating on July 30, departing from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The three vessels will operate three rotations per week, with departures from Tenerife scheduled every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Departures from La Palma are scheduled every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.
