Finnlines adds Gdynia to North Sea freight network

Published on

Finnlines is expanding its North Sea service by adding the Port of Gdynia in Poland to its weekly rotation starting from week 26.

The company said the move aims to reinforce trade routes between Northern and Western Europe by offering additional capacity and more direct connections for cargo between Poland, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Finland.

The new route also links Polish cargo traffic to the wider Grimaldi Group network, with connections to the Far East, Middle East, Mediterranean, West Africa, South America, and the US East Coast, it added.

“Our enhanced service features the deployment of three [Ro-Ro] vessels,” said Blasco Majorana, Line Manager at Finnlines. “These Ro-Ro vessels are tailored to accommodate a wide array of cargo types including Ro-Ro, breakbulk, container, and automotive cargo. They are particularly well-suited for special and oversized shipments, such as extra-wide or heavy units transported on weather decks or mafi trailers.”

To support the new service, Finnlines will also introduce newly developed 80-foot mafi trailers equipped with embedded rails. The design allows for improved handling of non-standard cargo such as railcars and wagons.
