Wallenius Wilhelmsen opens global facility in Brunswick, Georgia

Published on:

Norwegian shipping company Wallenius Wilhelmsen recently opened its newest global facility at the Port of Brunswick in Georgia.

The new facility represents a southeast US hub for Wallenius Wilhelmsen, which has consolidated Southeast port calls in Brunswick. The consolidation represents a move from an 85-acre (34-hectare) Equipment Processing Center (EPC) site in Pooler, Georgia and port calls in Ocean Terminal, Savannah to the new, customized 300-acre (120-hectare) Brunswick facility.

The new facility creates a strategic US hub for the export and import of vehicles. This will then free up the onsite EPC for heavy equipment export and import.

The Brunswick terminal will be able to accommodate all the vessels in the Wallenius Wilhelmsen fleet, including the Shaper-class vessels and the Tirranna wind-propulsion vessel. The new cargo handling equipment will include EV trucks and forklifts.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen's long-term goal for the Brunswick terminal is to consolidate the company's South Atlantic operations. The company will develop end-to-end services that connect ocean transportation, terminal handling, processing and inland transportation.
