Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) announced on September 29, 2026, the delivery of RS Atlantico, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel car carrier, to the Suardiaz Group.
The vessel has capacity for 5,500 car equivalent units (CEU) and is the lead ship in its series. It is EPS’s first newbuilding chartered to Suardiaz and its first mid-sized pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) built at Xiamen Shipyard in China.
The shipyard is part of Fujian Chuanzheng Shipbuilding group. RS Atlantico is approximately 190 metres long and has a gross tonnage of 55,000. It can also carry machinery and “high and heavy” cargo.
Suardiaz said the vessel had departed China, with its arrival in Europe anticipated during the final quarter of 2026. A second vessel is scheduled to join the fleet in mid-2027.
According to Suardiaz, the delivery makes the company the first shipowner in Spain to operate an LNG-powered vessel in the car-carrier segment.
The companies announced their collaboration agreement in November 2024 to secure tonnage for Suardiaz’s current and future lines. The group said it had invested more than €360 million over the preceding six years across fleet renewal and other logistics activities.
