COSCO Shipping to launch new China-Mediterranean vehicle freight service

Published on:

COSCO Shipping will operate on a new freight service transporting vehicle cargo from China to various ports in the Mediterranean beginning in March 2025.

The new international vehicle freight service will be COSCO Shipping's fifth following the establishment of earlier routes that connect China with ports in the Persian Gulf, South Africa, Europe, and South America.

COSCO Shipping's China-Mediterranean service will depart once every month and will cover a number of Mediterranean ports including Piraeus in Greece and Livorno in Italy.

Some of the vehicle cargo that will be offloaded at Mediterranean ports may then be transported to other countries in Europe and in North Africa such as Egypt, Romania, Cyprus, France, Spain, Morocco, Tunisia, Malta and Slovenia.

The service will also utilise COSCO Shipping's vehicle cargo monitoring platform. Among other things, the platform can show customers relevant data such as the exact position of their vehicles on board underway ships as a means of monitoring their condition during transit.
