Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding (MES) has recently completed and delivered the 66,000DWT bulk carrier 'Clipper Excelsior' to Clio Marine of Liberia.

Constructed at MES's Tamano shipyard, the vessel is the third wide beam, shallow draught vessel from MES' new generation vessel series.

The 38,203GRT vessel measures 199.99 metres in length, with a breadth of 36.0 metres and a depth of 18.45 metres. She is powered by a single MITSUI-MAN 7S50ME-B9.3 diesel engine unit, which is rated for a maximum continuous output of 8,470kW.

Constructed under NK classification, the vessel's service speed is 14.5 knots, and it features a complement for 25 crew.

The vessel has five cargo holds and four cranes to facilitate loading and unloading. The ship's bulk capacity is over 82,000m3 for materials such as coal, ore, grain, steel pipe and hot coil.

According to MES, the vessel's fuel consumption is less than that of a conventional Supramax bulk carrier, despite the vessel's increased size.
