A metal-cutting ceremony has been held at Russia's Nevsky Shipyard for its fifth Project RSD59 dry-cargo vessel.
Designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, the 140.8-metre by 16.9-metre vessel (hull No.595) is designed for transportation of general and bulk cargo, including grains, packaged lumber, logs, scrap metal, heavy cargo and coal. It can also carry dangerous goods.
The 7,679DWT vessel has two cargo holds with a capacity of 11,292 cubic metres and 248 TEU.
Powered by two 1,200kW engines that deliver an operating speed of 10.2 knots, the KM Ice2 vessel has a 20-day sea endurance.
