Chipolbrok welcomes new 62,000DWT heavy lift ship to fleet
Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company (Chipolbrok) has taken delivery of a new heavy lift vessel built by China's Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding.
De'an is the seventh ship in a series to be handed over to Chipolbrok. Design work on the vessel was undertaken by China State Shipbuilding Corporation's Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute in compliance with DNV and Polish Register of Shipping rules.
The newbuild has an LOA of 199.99 metres, a beam of 32.26 metres, a design draught of 13.5 metres, and a deadweight of 62,000. It will be used for the transport of project cargo such as components of large offshore wind turbines via its single continuous upper deck.
Also fitted are five holds with a total capacity of 75,000 cubic metres for transporting bulk cargo, steel coil, paper pulp, and IMSBC code cargo. Of these holds, the longest is 40 metres and is used for housing project cargo.
Cargo handling is facilitated by four deck cranes with a 38-metre outreach, and the two 150-tonne capacity cranes located either end of hatch number three can work in tandem to lift up to 300 tonnes. The other two cranes have safe working loads of 45 and 60 tonnes, respectively.
De'an will soon head to Taicang in Jiangsu province to load 12 sets of wind turbine components for export to the Port of Al Adabiyah on Egypt's Red Sea coast.
