A new Ro-Ro vessel ordered by Netherlands-based Amasus Shipping has departed on her first operational sailing, transporting 108-metre long offshore wind turbine blades from Denmark to the United States.

Rotra Futura will be used primarily for the transport of large offshore wind turbine components on behalf of Swiss logistics company Deugro.

Germany's HGK Shipping formally named its newest inland vessel during a ceremony in Hamburg on Thursday, July 3.

Blue Marlin features diesel-electric propulsion and technology that allows remotely controlled navigation. There is also an onboard solar module system that can generate up to 37,500 kWh of electricity per year, and this electricity can be used to power the ship.

The ship will mainly transport steel and bulk goods in the north-west German canal network on behalf of local steel manufacturer Salzgitter.

CLdN's new hybrid ro-ro vessel Leonine has embarked on its maiden voyage from the Far East to Europe. The vessel is the second of the company's new hybrid ships.

Following its delivery from HD Hyundai Mipo shipyard in South Korea, the Leonine completed a short drydock at Changhong International Shipyard in Zhoushan, China. The work involved applying a low-friction silicone hull coating and installing thruster grids designed to reduce hull resistance. The vessel is expected to arrive in Europe at the end of the summer.

China's Sanfu Shipbuilding has cut the first steel to be used in the construction of a new multi-purpose cargo vessel ordered by an undisclosed German shipowner.

Upon completion, the vessel will have an LOA of 159.75 metres, a beam of 22.8 metres, a draught of 11.55 metres, a draught of 8.30 metres, a deadweight of 14,000, and a speed of approximately 15.5 knots.

Tadotsu Shipyard, a subsidiary of Japan's Imabari Shipbuilding Group, has delivered Angelite Ace, a new liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fueled pure car carrier with a capacity for 7,000 vehicles.

The Liberian-flagged vessel has a length of 199.9 metres, a beam of 38 metres, and a gross tonnage of 77,695. It is powered by one MAN 6S60ME-C10.5-GI main engine and has a service speed of approximately 18 knots.
