Shimanami Shipyard, a subsidiary of Japan's Imabari Shipbuilding Group, has delivered a new 40,000 DWT bulk carrier, Norse Ozukuma on July 10.

The Panama-flagged vessel has a deadweight of 40,262 and a gross tonnage of 25,240. It also features a length of 182.9 metres, a beam of 31 metres, and is classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK). It is powered by a single MAN 6G45ME-C9.7 main engine, giving it a service speed of approximately 13.75 knots.

The bulk carrier features a double-hull construction with box-shaped holds suitable for a wide variety of cargoes and is equipped with four deck cranes for cargo handling.

According to the builder, Norse Ozukuma complies with various environmental regulations, including MARPOL and the ballast water management convention. It also meets the energy efficiency design index (EEDI) Phase 3 requirements ahead of schedule. For improved efficiency, the vessel is fitted with energy-saving devices and uses low-friction paint on its hull.
