Japanese shipbuilder Imabari Shipbuilding delivered a new bulk carrier, Nord Newport, from its main Imabari shipyard on June 23.

The Liberian-flagged vessel has a deadweight tonnage of 40,297 and a gross tonnage of 25,003. It measures 182.9 metres in length, with a beam of 31 metres, and a draught of 15 metres.

It is powered by a single MAN 6G45ME-C9.7 main engine and has a service speed of approximately 14 knots. The vessel is classed by Japanese classification society Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK).

The bulk carrier features a double-hull construction with box-shaped holds suitable for a wide variety of cargoes and is equipped with four deck cranes for cargo handling.

According to Imabari Shipbuilding, Nord Newport complies with various environmental regulations, including MARPOL and the ballast water management convention. It also meets the energy efficiency design index (EEDI) phase 3 requirements ahead of schedule.

For improved efficiency, the vessel is fitted with energy-saving devices and uses low-friction paint on its hull.
