DCNS has recently incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary in Canada.
Known as DCNS Technologies Canada, the company will seek to develop naval engineering and industrial partnerships within the region as procurement projects come on stream within Canada's shipbuilding industry.
Headquartered in Ottawa, the subsidiary represents the first step towards the creation of a Naval Systems Integration Center, a project announced by DCNS CEO Patrick Boissier late last year.
In particular, DCNS Technologies Canada will lead the design of the Canadian version of the FREMM frigate.
This vessel type is a contender for the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) program under the national shipbuilding procurement strategy (NSPS), a multi-billion-dollar national shipbuilding program intended to bring up to three decades of economic growth.
