Dalian Shipbuilding to build VLCCs

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) has won a contract for the construction of three very large crude carriers (VLCCs) from a Chinese shipowner.

According to TradeWinds, each vessel will have a deadweight tonnage of 320,000DWT. Delivery is set for 2017.

The order, worth a total of US$285 million, includes an option for an additional newbuilding.
