The longest coastal road in China, the 1,443km Liaoning Coastal Highway around the Bohai and Yellow Sea, has moved into its final construction phase and will open next month.
The US$1.9 billion project, from an aerial view, appears in the figure of the letter Z. It starts from Dandong in the east of China, passes through Jinzhou, Panjin, Yingkou and Dalian and finally reaches Suizhong County of Huludao city in the west. The six coastal cities of Liaoning province will be connected.
When completed, the Liaoning Coastal Highway will connect 25 ports of different sizes and 228 industrial parks. The highway will then join the dense network of expressways in the interior of Liaoning province, becoming a main artery of the Bohai Rim Economic Circle, fuelling development and opening up coastal regions.
