Greek shipowner Euroholdings has secured time charter extensions for two feeder containerships at increased rates, capitalising on firm market conditions and tight vessel availability.
The agreements cover the 1,732 TEU Joanna and the 1,439 TEU Aegean Express, both operating in direct continuation of their existing employments.
Under the terms of the first deal, Joanna will earn a gross daily rate of $24,000 for a minimum of 30 months starting on December 2, 2026, with an option for an additional 20 days.
Meanwhile, Aegean Express is fixed at $20,500 per day for between 24 and 26 months, with the new charter period scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Aristides Pittas remarked that the fixtures reflect, "the continued firmness of the containership charter market, even for vintage vessels, amid ongoing geopolitical disruptions and a complete shortage of prompt tonnage to meet operators’ continued requirements."
The company expects the two contracts to generate roughly $24 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation over the minimum agreed period.
Euroholdings indicated that the new fixtures will raise its charter coverage to approximately 79 per cent for 2026, 48 per cent for 2027, and 47 per cent for 2028.
Following the scheduled delivery of the product tanker Hellas Fighter, the company fleet will comprise two container carriers totalling 3,171 TEU alongside two product tankers with a combined capacity of 99,994 DWT.
