Two collisions occur within minutes of each other at Kaohsiung Port

Two tankers and a containership have figured in two separate collision incidents that took place on the same morning at the Port of Kaohsiung in Taiwan.

The series of incidents began on the morning of Saturday, November 3, when the chemical tanker Der Yun collided with the oil tanker Kinshing (pictured) as the former vessel was relocating to another berth.

Kinshing, which was on its way out of the port at the time, tried to move away from Der Yun following the collision but then accidentally struck Setsu Maru, a containership berthed at the port.

Der Yun and Kinshing sustained damage on their portside and bow, respectively, while Setsu Maru reported only minor damage and was allowed to leave the port.

No injuries and oil leakage have been reported.

Both tankers have been detained at the port pending an investigation into the cause of the incidents.
