Ichthys LNG carrier Pacific Breeze launched in Japan

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) recently held a naming ceremony for the newly-built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Pacific Breeze at Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ Sakaide Shipyard.

Designed by KHI, Pacific Breeze is the largest Moss-type LNG carrier, and the the first to be equipped with a “tri-fuel diesel” (TFD) propulsion system for low fuel consumption and environmentally friendly credentials.

Pacific Breeze will be time-chartered by IT Marine Transport, a joint-venture company between INPEX and Total, and consigned to CPC, and will carry LNG from the Ichthys LNG Project in Darwin, Australia to Taiwan after her delivery.

At 289.3 metres long and with a beam of 52 metres, she has a capacity of approximately 182,000m3.
