Stena Bulk unveils low-emission product tanker prototype

Stena Bulk recently unveiled images of a proposed MR product and chemical tanker prototype which the company claims will be able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 25 per cent compared to modern conventional product tankers.

The vessel will be equipped with Flettner rotors and solar panels and will be powered by dual-fuel engines that can run on LNG as well as conventional low-sulphur fuels.

Design work for the prototype was provided by Stena Bulk’s sister company Stena Teknik.
