Shell has entered into agreements to charter ten new very large crude carriers (VLCCs) powered by dual-fuel LNG engines.

Four of the vessels have been chartered from Geneva-based Advantage Tankers, three from Singapore's AET, and three from US-based International Seaways.

All 10 VLCCs will be built in South Korea by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME). The first of these vessels is expected to become operational in 2022 and be on charter to Shell for seven years.
