The third in a series of five chemical carriers, the Balt Flot 18, has been delivered to Russian firm BF Tanker.

Built as part of an agreement between the Nizhny Novgorod-based Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard, the State Transport Leasing Company and BF Tanker, the Project RST27M chemical carriers have a capacity of 800 tonnes and can transport crude oil, oil products, edible oils and petrochemical products with simultaneous delivery of three types of cargo.

The 7,875DWT vessels are designed by Marine Engineering Bureau to RS class KM Ice 1 for mixed (river-sea) navigation. They are 140.8 metres LOA and have a 3.6-metre draught in fresh water and 4.6 metres in salt water.

Detailed design for the modification project was provided by engineering firm Volga-Caspian Design Bureau.

The remaining vessels will be launched in December and delivered next year.
