Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) took delivery of a new very large crude carrier (VLCC) from China’s Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) on Monday, November 8.

Tateshina has an LOA of 339.5 metres, a beam of 60 metres, and a deadweight of 311,979 tonnes.

The ship has also been awarded the Cyber Resilience-Guideline (CybR-G) notation by Japanese classification society ClassNK. The notation acknowledges that the design is feasible for proper ship operation with cybersecurity taken into consideration.

The VLCC will sail under the Liberian flag.
