NYK takes delivery of methanol-fuelled chemical tanker from Hyundai

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has taken delivery of Takaroa Sun, a newbuild chemical tanker from South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyards.

The 49,000DWT, 183- by 32-metre vessel is equipped with a B&W ME-LGIM two-stroke dual-fuel engine that runs on both methanol and conventional marine fuel.

Takaroa Sun will be time-chartered to Waterfront Shipping Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Methanex Corporation of Canada, under a long-term agreement.
