NYK’s Singapore-based subsidiary NYK Bulkship (Asia) has taken delivery of a new chemical tanker from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.

The 186- by 32-metre Seymour Sun is equipped with a dual-fuel engine that can operate on either heavy fuel oil or methanol. When navigating using methanol as fuel, onboard systems will suppresses the production of NOx by adding water to methanol to lower its temperature during combustion, hence ensuring compliance with IMO Tier III emissions regulations.

Under the management of NYK Shipmanagement, Seymour Sun will serve a long-term charter contract with Methanex Corporation subsidiary Waterfront Shipping.
