Waterfront Shipping Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canada’s Methanex Corporation, has added two new dual-fuel vessels to its tanker fleet.

The 49,000DWT Mari Couva (pictured) and Mari Kokako are both powered by MAN B&W ME-LGIM IMO Tier III-compliant two-stroke dual-fuel engines that can run on both methanol and conventional marine fuels.

These are the eighth and ninth methanol-fuelled vessels to be chartered by Waterfront Shipping. Two more methanol-fuelled vessels are expected to be delivered to the company before the end of 2019.

The two new vessels, a joint venture between Waterfront Shipping and Sweden’s Marinvest/Skagerack, were built in South Korea at Hyundai Mipo Dockyards.

Waterfront Shipping will charter the two vessels to replace older vessels.
