Malaysian shipping company the MISC Group, through its tanker arm AET, has placed an order for two Aframax vessels in a series to be built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation subsidiary Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC).

The vessels will be fitted with dual-fuel engines that can also run on ammonia to allow sailings on significantly reduced emissions.

Following delivery from DSIC, the tankers will enter into time charter contracts with Petronas’ wholly owned subsidiary PETCO Trading Labuan Company (PTLCL). Through these vessels, PTLCL will be able to transport its products to customers worldwide.
