JERA’s LNG carrier named

A naming ceremony was held for JERA’s new LNG carrier under construction at Sakaide Shipyard of Kawasaki Heavy Industries yesterday.

Named Enshu Maru, the vessel will be owned by a joint venture between “K” Line and Tokyo Century.

Under the operation of LNG Marine Transport, the ship will mainly serve the transportation route between the Freeport LNG project in the US and Japan after delivery, and is expected to contribute to stable transportation of energy for Japan.

The vessel is 293 metres long, 48.9 metres wide, has a tank capacity of 164,700 cubic metres and a maximum speed of 19.5 knots.
