Hyundai unveils vessel designed to withstand cyber attacks

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) recently unveiled a newbuild very large crude carrier (VLCC) that has been equipped from the outset with cyber security measures.

The company claims the main control system is protected from cyber security threats both inside and outside the ship.

HHI obtained the Cyber Security Ready notation for the vessel from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) in October.

The ship will be delivered to an unnamed European operator by the end of November 2018.
