Shell to charter largest Jones Act-compliant LNG bunker barge
Crowley Maritime Corporation has entered into an agreement with Shell NA LNG for the long-term time charter of a new LNG bunkering barge.
Upon completion, the vessel will be the largest Jones Act-compliant LNG bunkering barge with a length of 416 feet (126 metres) and capacity for 3.17 million gallons (12,000 cubic metres). Construction will take place at the facilities of Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
Crowley expects the barge will be deployed to serve LNG-fueled ships that call on ports on the US East Coast starting in 2024.
