Qatar Petroleum reserves additional shipbuilding capacity in China for future LNG carriers

Qatar Petroleum, through subsidiary Qatargas, has entered into an agreement wherein it will reserve additional ship construction capacity at the facilities of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) for LNG carrier newbuildings.

The new vessels will each have an LOA of 299 metres, a beam of 46.4 metres, and a total cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic metres.

Construction of the vessels will take place at CSSC’s Shanghai-based subsidiary Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding.
