Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) through a subsidiary, has entered into a long-term time-charter contract with CNOOC Gas and Power Singapore Trading and Marketing for six LNG carriers, in addition to a shipbuilding contract for the vessels with China’s the Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group.

The six vessels are scheduled to be delivered between 2026 and 2027 and will be mainly engaged in LNG transportation to China.

Each of the LNG carriers will measure about 299 by 46.4 metres and will have a total cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic metres. Power for each ship will be provided by a dual-fuel engine that can operate on fuel oil or boil-off gas stored in cargo tanks.
