MOL christens gas carrier LNG Merak

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and China COSCO Shipping Corporation have christened a new LNG carrier being built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.

LNG Merak is the second of a planned for LNG carrier newbuildings to be used by MOL and China COSCO Shipping to serve the Yamal LNG Project in Russia.

As with sister vessel LNG Dubhe, which was delivered by Hudong-Zhonghua in the fourth quarter of 2019, LNG Merak has a length of 295 metres, a beam of 45 metres, a draught of 11.5 metres, and a cargo tank capacity of 174,000 cubic metres.
