Malaysia’s MISC has taken delivery of Seri Erlang, its second very large ethane carrier (VLEC).

The newbuild is the second of six VLECs ordered by MISC from Samsung Heavy Industries. All six vessels are purpose-built for long-term charter to China’s Zhejiang Satellite Petrochemical (STL).

The VLEC, which has been named after a mountain in China’s Sichuan province, boasts a total cargo capacity of 98,000 cubic metres.

Seri Erlang will join sister vessel Seri Everest in transporting ethane from the US to China to support STL’s ethane cracker facility in China. Both VLECs are managed by MISC’s shipmanagement arm, Eaglestar Shipmanagement Gas.
