Malaysian shipping company MISC has taken delivery of its sixth very large ethane carrier (VLEC), Seri Elbert, from South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

Like its sisters, the vessel was purpose-built for long-term charter to China’s Zhejiang Satellite Petrochemical (STL).

Seri Elbert has an LOA of 230 metres, a beam of 37 metres, a maximum draught of 12.1 metres, a deadweight of 59,654 tonnes, and a total cargo capacity of 98,000 cubic metres. It will be managed by MISC’s shipmanagement arm, Eaglestar Shipmanagement Gas, and will be used to transport ethane to China.
