Korean Register grants AIP for ammonia bunkering vessel

The Korean Register (KR) has granted approval in principle (AIP) for an ammonia bunkering vessel that will be the first vessel of its kind to be built in South Korea.

The vessel has been developed through a joint development project (JDP) between KR, South Korean shipowner KMS EMEC, and Singapore-based shipping company Navig8 Group.

The vessel itself will be powered by a MAN dual-fuel propulsion system that can operate on either MGO or ammonia.
