Japanese shipowner Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has placed an order for an LPG-fueled vessel that will be capable of transporting LPG and liquefied ammonia gas (LAG).

The vessel will be built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Completion and delivery are scheduled for 2023.

Once completed, the LPG/LAG carrier will have an LOA of approximately 230 metres, a moulded beam of 37.2 metres, a summer draught of 11.65 metres, and separate cargo tanks that will allow LPG and LAG to be transported simultaneously. The vessel’s total cargo capacity will be 86,700 cubic metres.
