Jiangnan Shipyard scores VLEC newbuilding orders from local customer

China’s Jiangnan Shipyard Group has been awarded contracts for the construction of two very large ethane carriers (VLECs) in a series for local operator Tianjin Southwest Maritime.

The vessels will each have a total cargo capacity of 98,000 cubic metres and will be the first VLECs that will be acquired by Tianjin Southwest.

Following delivery, the two newbuildings will commence a long-term charter Zhejiang Satellite Petrochemical.
