Exmar has ordered two LPG-powered very large gas carriers (VLGC) to be built to LR class by Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction in the Philippines.

Scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2020, the vessels will be used to assist Exmar's long-term commitments with Statoil for worldwide LPG transportation announced in December.

MAN Diesel and Turbo has been selected as the engine maker to develop an efficient LPG fuel system.

As a fuel LPG does not contain any sulfur and substantially reduces carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide emissions and particulate matters are almost halved when compared to a heavy fuel engine.
