Dutch yard launches third LNG-fueled ship in series for Thun Tankers

Westerbroek, Netherlands shipbuilder Ferus Smit recently launched a new oil/chemical tanker slated for Sweden’s Thun Tankers.

Thun Equality is the third in a series of five Finnish/Swedish ice class 1A tankers ordered by Thun. Once completed, it will have a length of 115 metres, a beam of 15.87 metres, a deadweight of approximately 8,000 tonnes, and nine cargo tanks with a total capacity for 9,540 cubic metres.

Power will be provided by one dual-fuel engine that can operate on either LNG or MGO.

The final two vessels in the series are scheduled to be delivered to Thun within the year.
